Advanced French Course

You have worked hard at the French language and now have reached a good level of fluency in French and a decent understanding and knowledge of a broad range of language structures and functions. Despite this you might find that still occasionally make small syntactic errors, and feel that learning alternative ways of communicating your ideas would be beneficial. The Advanced French Course we offer focuses intently upon the language's detailed nuances, and seeks to develop the scope of your spoken and written French plus your cultural awareness.

Our advanced French course will be tailored to meet your specific needs, but typically includes an extensive grammar section, grammar drills, translations, literary appreciation and essay practice. French news, media and arts will be covered in order to facilitate a broad immersion into the French culture. Revision of certain grammar points will also be included if deemed necessary, including various past tenses, pronouns, reported speech, language registers, conditional present and past, subjunctive present and past, passive and active forms.

By the end of the advanced course our expectation is that you will be able to understand the main ideas of complex text on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in fields of particular specialization. You will be able to interact with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular conversation with native speakers quite possible without strain for either party. Furthermore you will be able to produce clear, detailed text on a wide range of subjects as well explain viewpoints on a variety of topic issues, giving the advantages and disadvantages of a number of options.
